It was almost like going to Poland only much easier since we didn’t need to travel. No more cereal for breakfast or tea with milk, just bread with ham, cheese, jam and honey and tea without milk. It was a refreshing break from our regular routine. Kuba, Stefan and Patryk loved it too, including a suitcase full of presents and all the spoiling they received during the visit, especially from grandpa. Stefan, who normally uses his words sparingly, was shouting at the top of his voice from early morning : “Diadek!!!, Diadek!!!” (Grandpa in Polish). Kuba on the other hand was trying to impress everyone NOT with his natural eloquence but rather with his surreal and repetitive ‘comical’ performances such as: “Chipsy!!! (Crisps in Polish) followed by a silly face and loud outbursts of contagious laughter. I have to say, the most gracious and well behaved was Patryk who gave nice warm smiles to grandma and granddad and never shouted without a reason. We hope his friendly and gentle nature will not change much when he grows older.
We also managed to organise a few trips to see interesting places in Scotland, taste some real Scottish food (fish&chips in this case) and experience some real Scottish weather, although, fortunately not too much of it. The only disappointment was an attempted meal at the Polish Club where after waiting for an hour in a seemingly open restaurant we were told that the kitchen staff was partially unwell and partially on holidays and no food would be served. Well, instead of indulging ourselves in barszcz czerwony and bigos we opted humbly for the speed-of-light production from the local “Wok World” take-away. We should have known that in a Polish Club we would find not only original Polish food on the menu but also quite authentic Polish customer service 🙂
To see the main events of the visit click HERE.

W ciągu ostatniego tygodnia gościli u nas z wizyta polscy dziadkowie naszych chłopców.
