Who could predict that our 20th anniversary would be a wet one? Well, it did rain quite a lot, but then, it is Scotland so hardly surprising, and most importantly, nobody cares! This minor detail did not stop us from having a fantastic day out and plenty of family fun. Note that, as the years go by, the parents are strangely “shrinking”… or is it just an illusion? You can judge for yourself how tall we were mere 5 years ago, by looking HERE.

Kto mógł przewidzieć, że nasza porcelanowa rocznica będzie jednocześnie mokrą rocznicą? Cóż, padało dosyć obficie, ale to przecież Szkocja, więc trudno się temu dziwić. Na szczęście, nikogo to nie obchodziło. Ten drobny szczegół nie przeszkodził nam w spędzeniu fantastycznego dnia i mnóstwa rodzinnej zabawy. Zauważcie jak z biegiem lat rodzice stopniowo się “kurczą”… czy to tylko złudzenie? Sami możecie ocenić, jak wysocy byliśmy zaledwie 5 lat temu, zaglądając TUTAJ.

Someone might say it is boring to spend holidays on hill walks for the third year in a raw. Yet, nothing can be further from the truth. I would say, it is wonderful, healthy and beautiful, definitely NOT boring, especially when you invite someone with a guitar who is willing to carry it all the way to the top, and sing Polish scout songs at the top of his voice. That was unbelievably refreshing and melancholic at the same time. We need more hill walks not less:)

Ktoś mógłby powiedzieć, że trzecie z kolei wakacje spędzone na górskich wędrówkach mogą być nudne. Jednakże, nic nie może być dalsze od prawdy. Powiedziałbym, że górska wędrówka jest cudowna, zdrowa i piękna, zdecydowanie NIE nudna, zwłaszcza, gdy się zaprosi gościa z gitarą, który jest skłonny zanieść ją na sam szczyt i śpiewać harcerskie piosenki na cały głos. To było niesamowicie orzeźwiające, a jednocześnie melancholijne przeżycie. Potrzebujemy więcej wędrówki po górach, a nie mniej:)

Cautiously optimistic, we welcomed 2022 with a game of Scrabble, a few bottles of bubbly, and a mad after-midnight karaoke session. Is that not good? Yes, it was very good, and better still, we enjoyed the company of great friends who brought a few boys of their own to the party. Look at those handsome, talented chaps! The future looks more hopeful already.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Our traditional 15^th of August anniversary is always a joyful, even though sometimes chaotic, family affair. It has a simple formula: a meal + a bit of fun + a photo = everyone is happy without exception. As if by magic, there are no objections, moaning or protestations. What a joy! It is worth waiting the whole year to see everyone lined up for an anniversary photo. This year we took it in a beautiful undisclosed location, in the middle of nowhere you might say,… not really, it was just a middle of our back garden. Still, good looking shot, no?
By the way, note that as the boys grow taller and taller every year the parents do start to look rather small. This is only an optical illusion, we are not really shrinking yet!

Nasza tradycyjna rocznica 15-tego sierpnia jest zawsze radosną rodzinną imprezą, choć czasem bywa chaotyczna. Ma ona prostą formułę: wspólny posiłek + trochę wygłupów + zdjęcie = wszyscy są szczęśliwi be wyjątku. Jak za dotknięciem czarodziejskiej różdżki, nie ma sprzeciwu, narzekania i protestów. Co za radość! Warto czekać cały rok, aby zobaczyć wszystkich ustawionych do zdjęcia rocznicowego. W tym roku zrobiliśmy nasze zdjęcie w pięknym egzotycznym miejscu, z daleka od cywilizacji, … niezupełnie, to jest nasz niezupełnie egzotyczny ogród. Mimo wszystko zdjęcie niczego sobie, prawda?
Przy okazji, warto wspomnieć, że z roku na rok, w miarę jak chłopcy stają się coraz wyżsi, rodzice zaczynają wyglądać na raczej skromnej postury. To tylko złudzenie optyczne, tak naprawdę się jeszcze nie kurczymy!

This is the second time in a raw we opted for a local vacation in Scotland. Even though we did not travel to faraway locations or exotic destinations, we discovered beautiful places and made friends with wonderful people we would probably not have had chance to get to know under normal circumstances. The visit to the Scottish Highlands was a magical, although wet at times, adventure which made a deep impression on us all. We experienced such warm welcome and friendly atmosphere that it was hard to leave. It did not really matter there wasn’t any monster to be seen in Loch Ness. Hearing the accounts of the monster sightings by almost everyone we met was as good as (if not better than) seeing the beast itself. There is no way the Loch Ness monster story was made up, no way! 😉

We have started summer 2021 with our usual climb/walk to the top of Tinto Hill. Good fun as always, great views, not too challenging even for Joseph. Perfect adventure on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Who could object? Well, apparently, there are some teenage boys who can easily object to the idea of a great hill-walk, and opt for an afternoon of XBox gaming instead. Would you believe it?
